24 Carats Machine Tools

We’ve been here in Malad West for a long time now, right across from the Land Mark Hotel in Guriya Pada. It’s a busy spot and people often get lost looking for us because of all the traffic. Our shop is full of machines and metal parts that we’ve collected over the years. Some days it’s so loud you can’t hear yourself think, but that’s just how a machine tool place is. We started out with just a couple of small lathes and now the whole floor is packed. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. There’s grease on the floor and dust on the shelves, but we know where everything is kept. Usually, someone is making tea in the back or arguing with a delivery driver about where to park the truck. The monsoon makes the road outside a bit of a mess, but we still open up every morning. Most of our neighbors know us by name. We don't really do much advertising or stuff like that. People just show up because they know we have what they need for their workshops. It’s a simple life running a business like this. We spend most of the day moving heavy stuff around or checking the inventory on the back shelves. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the stools until it comes back. It’s just how things go here in Nanekarwadi.
