Vainetry Herbal Beauty Parlour

Our place is right in the middle of the Kankerkhera Market on Ambedkar Road. If you know where Lord Budha Public School is, we are just a short walk from there. It gets very chaotic during the times when school lets out. There are cycles and rickshaws everywhere. The shop itself is focused on herbal things. We spend a lot of time mixing up different pastes and oils from ingredients we buy ourselves. It smells like dried leaves and henna inside most of the time. The walls were painted a light green years ago, but they’ve faded quite a bit. We have a small space, so if three or four people come in at once, it feels very crowded. We mostly do threading and skin treatments using the natural stuff we prepare. My mother taught me a lot of these things back in the day. People in Meerut seem to like the traditional way of doing things better than the chemical products. The road outside is always being repaired or dug up, so it’s a bit of a scramble to get to the door sometimes. We don't have fancy decorations. Just some pictures of hairstyles pinned to a corkboard that is falling apart. It’s a practical shop for people who live in Kanker Khera and want something simple. We keep the kettle going for tea throughout the day. It’s how we stay awake during the slow afternoon hours when business is a bit quiet.
