Alman Hair Saloon

Alman Hair Saloon is tucked away in A Block of Zakir Colony. If you live around here in Meerut, you probably pass by us every day without thinking much about it. This part of the colony gets quite busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work. I usually have the radio playing softly in the background, mostly just to keep the silence away when there aren't many customers. The shop is small and simple. We have the basic mirrors and the old style chairs that have seen a lot of use over the seasons. Meerut gets very dusty, so I spend a lot of my time cleaning the glass and keeping the floor clear of hair. It’s a quiet life mostly. I see the same kids growing up and coming in for their first haircuts, and then years later they are coming in as grown men. Zakir Colony has changed a lot since we first started, but the way we cut hair hasn't changed much at all. There is no need for anything complicated here. You just come in, sit down, and we get the job done while talking about the weather or the price of groceries. It is a humble place and that is how we like it. Sometimes the power goes out and we just wait it out on the bench outside until the lights come back on. That’s just how it goes in this part of town.
