Sokin Hair Cutting Salon is located out on Mawana Road in the Ganga Nagar area of Meerut. We are specifically in Kaseru Buxur, which stays pretty busy because the tempo stand is right nearby. You can always hear the drivers shouting and the engines running throughout the day. It makes the shop feel like it’s right in the middle of everything. We get a lot of people who are just passing through or waiting for their next ride. Because of the tempo stand, it gets very dusty, so we are always dusting off the glass and the chairs. The shop is simple, with just the essential tools for cutting hair and shaving. We don’t have any air conditioning, just a big fan that spins on the ceiling to move the air around. It can get loud with the fan and the street noise combined. We open early because that’s when the commuters are moving around the most. Our regulars are mostly people who live in the colonies nearby. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just see the shop when they are getting off the tempo. We keep some old newspapers around for people to read while they wait their turn. It is a humble place, and we are just here to do our job every day. The work is repetitive but we like talking to the different people who stop by.
