Shoaib Hair Saloon

Shoaib Hair Saloon is located in the Top Khana Market in Meerut Cantt. It’s right in the R A Bazaar area, close to the Masjid. Because of the mosque, it is very peaceful during prayer times, but otherwise, the market is quite full of life. I have been in this shop for some time now. It’s a small place with white walls and a few pictures of different hair styles pinned up, though they are quite old now. I spend my days here from morning until late evening. The air in Meerut Cantt is a bit better than in the city center, but it still gets hot in the summer. I have a fan that helps a bit. The tools I use are the ones I am comfortable with, mostly just standard scissors and a manual clipper. I keep everything on a small trolley next to the chair. People from the R A Bazaar come in for a quick trim or a shave before they go to work or the Masjid. I don’t have a computer or anything like that for bookings; people just walk in and wait their turn. The floor is just plain stone and I sweep it several times a day to keep it clean. It is a honest way to earn a living in a good neighborhood. I enjoy the rhythm of the market and the familiar sounds outside. I finish up my work when the market starts to close.
