New Faces Beauty Parlour

The shop is right on Ito Road in Shastri Nagar, not too far from the Avas Vikas Office. It’s been here for a while now. Most days start the same way, unlocking the front door and getting the chairs ready. New Faces Beauty Parlour isn't some massive place, but it gets the job done for the people living around here in Meerut. You can hear the traffic outside all day long. Sometimes it gets really loud when the buses go by. We’ve got a couple of chairs and big mirrors that I have to wipe down every morning because the dust around here is something else. Most of the ladies who come in are from the neighborhood. They stop by after doing their grocery shopping or before heading home. It’s nice because everyone knows everyone. We talk about the weather or what’s happening down the street. It’s not fancy, just a regular spot where you can sit down and get your hair done or some threading. The lights are a bit bright, but you need that to see properly. When it rains, the water puddles up right outside the shop, so we have to be careful with the floor. It’s just how things are. We try to keep things tidy, though it’s hard when it’s busy. Usually, the afternoons are the quietest time, so that’s when I grab a quick tea from the stall nearby. Then the evening rush starts and stays busy until we close the shutters.
