Mustakim Hair Saloon

If you walk down toward Bhumiya Ka Pull in Meerut, you’ll find our saloon right there. Mustakim is usually the first one in to open the shutters and get the water ready. It’s a busy spot because of the location, so there’s always a lot of noise from the street coming inside. We have three chairs but sometimes only two of us are working if someone is sick. The mirrors are old but they show everything clearly enough. Most men come in for a quick shave or a basic haircut. We don't do anything fancy, just what people ask for. There is a small television in the corner that we keep on for the news or some music while we work. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so we keep a broom handy at all times. In the afternoons, things slow down a bit and we might sit outside for a minute to get some fresh air. People from the market often stop by just to say hello even if they don't need a haircut. It’s just how things are in this part of Meerut. We’ve been at this spot for a long time now and everyone knows where Bhumiya Ka Pull is. It’s a plain shop with white walls and some photos of actors to show different styles. We just do our work and go home when the sun goes down. Most people around here are regulars who have been coming since they were kids.
