You can find us on Karam Ali Street in Meerut Cantt. If you know the Shiah Wali Masjid, we are just in the lane near it. It's an old part of the city and the streets are quite narrow. I’ve been working here for a long time. The shop isn't very big, just enough for the basic equipment and a couple of chairs. I spend my mornings cleaning the combs and checking the stock of creams we have left. Meerut gets quite cold in the winter, so we keep the door closed most of the day then. In the summer, it's the opposite. The masjid nearby is a good landmark for people who haven't been here before. Most of my clients are women from the surrounding houses in the gali. They come in for simple things like a haircut or getting their hair oiled properly. I don't use any of those very expensive machines you see in the big malls. I prefer doing things by hand. Sometimes my neighbor brings over some snacks and we have a quick break together. The walls are painted a light color, but they probably need a new coat soon. There’s always a bit of street noise, bikes zooming past and kids playing near the lane. It's just a normal day-to-day business for me. We don't do anything too fancy, just the regular stuff that women need to feel a bit better.
