Lavita Beauty Parlour

Lavita Beauty Parlour is tucked away in Shop 272 at Abulane here in Meerut. Being near Delhi Choola Bhutra Walia means it always smells like fried food around here, which usually makes me hungry by lunchtime. Abulane is a very busy market, so there are always people walking past the shop window. We have a small sign outside, but it’s a bit faded from the sun. Inside, the walls are painted a light color to make the room feel bigger than it actually is. I handle most of the hair styling and makeup myself. The chairs are old-fashioned and heavy, but they are solid. We get a lot of girls coming in before they go out for the evening or for college events. I try to keep things organized, though sometimes hair clips and rollers end up everywhere when we are in a rush. The electricity in this part of Meerut can be a bit temperamental, so I always keep a few candles and a hand fan ready just in case the lights go out. It isn't a luxury place, just a regular beauty parlour where we work hard. I’ve lived in this city all my life, so I know most of the families around here. We don't do any big advertising. Usually, someone tells their cousin about us and that’s how we get new people. It’s just a practical shop for getting your hair or skin sorted out without spending too much.
