Khanak Beauty Parlour

Khanak Beauty Parlour is situated on Khirwa Road over in Kanker Khera. If you know this part of Meerut, you know the road stays quite busy with traffic and people moving about. The shop is easy to spot once you get onto that stretch of road, usually there are a few scooters parked right out front. It’s a local place where women from the nearby houses come in when they need something done. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us working the chairs and talking to neighbors. Usually, someone is getting their hair trimmed or maybe some henna applied for a family function. The smell of hair products and tea is usually in the air because we spend a lot of hours here every day. The chairs are old but comfortable enough for a quick visit. We have a few posters on the walls of different hairstyles but mostly people just tell us what they want and we do it. It’s the kind of place where you don’t need an appointment most of the time, you just walk in and wait your turn on the bench. Sometimes the power goes out like it does in Meerut and we just open the door to let some light in and keep working. It’s a basic setup with a counter for the scissors and creams. We know most of our customers by their names because they live just a few streets away. It isn't anything like those big malls.
