Hanshika Beauty Parlour

Down here in Trihai Maholla, near the Kamal Mandir in Kharkhuda, you will find our little parlour. Hanshika is the name we went with when we started. Meerut is a big place but this corner is quite quiet most of the time. We mostly help the ladies from the surrounding houses get their hair done. It is a small room, honestly. We have a mirror, a chair, and some wooden shelves with creams and rollers. My cousin and I run the place together. We do not have any of those fancy machines. We use our hands and simple tools for everything we do. Usually, we start around ten in the morning. If it is raining hard, the roof might drip a bit near the door, but we just put a bucket there. People stop by to talk even if they do not need a haircut right then. It is just how things are around here. We do bridal makeup too, but it is the simple kind people in this area like. It is nothing like what you see in the movies. We buy our supplies from the market in the city. It takes a while to get there and back on the bus. Sometimes the power goes out, so we keep some candles ready in the drawer. It is a basic life, but we like being our own bosses. The kids play outside in the lane while their mothers are inside the shop. It is a friendly spot and we have been here long enough that everyone knows the way.
