Danish Hair Saloon

I opened this shop on Khirva Road over in Kanker Khera. We are in the Shardapuri Fase 2 area of Meerut, which is a place where many families live. The shop is just a small room along the road. Most days, I am here from early morning until late in the evening. The road outside can get quite dusty, so I am always dusting off the glass jars where I keep the combs. I have a couple of old wooden chairs for people to wait on. There is a small television in the corner, but the signal isn't very good, so we mostly just listen to the noise from the street. People come here for a simple haircut or a clean shave. I don't use any of those expensive machines, just my hands and some good scissors. I know most of the boys in the neighborhood since I’ve been cutting their hair since they were small. It is a relaxed place. Sometimes a friend will stop by and we will sit and talk for an hour while the shop is empty. The floor is a bit uneven, and the door squeaks when you open it. I don't mind those things. It feels like home to me. If you are driving down Khirva Road, look for the blue door. That is where I am usually sitting, waiting for the next customer to walk in. I keep a calendar on the wall that's a few years old but the pictures are nice.
