Udala (Junior) College

Udala is a quiet town in Mayurbhanj, and our junior college is right in the middle of things here. It is a place where students come after finishing their 10th grade. We have a lot of young people from the nearby villages. The campus is simple and has a few trees where students sit during their lunch hour. It is not a modern looking place with glass walls. It is built with bricks and mortar and has stayed the same for many years. We follow the state board rules and keep our records in thick registers. The office is usually stacked with papers. Life in Mayurbhanj is slow, and the college reflects that. We do not have high-speed internet in every corner or a fancy canteen. Most kids bring their own food from home. The teachers are local people who have been teaching the same subjects for a long time. They know how to explain things in a way the local kids understand. When the festivals come around, the college gets very quiet as everyone goes home. We just try to help the students pass their exams so they can go to a bigger city for further studies. It is a stepping stone for them. We are just a regular college in a small Odisha town. Things work the way they always have, without much change from one year to the next.
