About Barasahi Panchayat Samiti (Junior) College – Education in Mayurbhanj
Out here in Baradihi, people mostly know us as the local junior college. We are situated in Mayurbhanj, and the area is quite rural. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s business. The college is run under the Barasahi Panchayat Samiti, which basically means it's a community-focused spot. Students come from the nearby farms and small houses. Most of them walk or cycle to get to their classes. The classrooms are basic, with wooden benches and blackboards. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or anything like that. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open to let the breeze in. The campus is just a few buildings clustered together. You might see some cows grazing nearby because it’s a quiet, open area. Our staff is mostly from around Mayurbhanj too, so they speak the local language and understand the struggles the kids face with their studies and home life. Usually, classes start early to beat the heat. We have a small area where students eat their lunch or just sit around talking. It’s a simple setup for young people who are trying to finish their basic schooling before they decide what to do next. There’s a lot of bird noise in the mornings because of all the trees. Life is slow in Baradihi, and the college just follows that same pace. We just try to keep the gates open and the lessons going as scheduled every single day.
