Sahid Memorial (Junior) College

Out here in Manida, things move at their own pace. Sahid Memorial (Junior) College is a place where local students come after finishing high school. It’s located in Mayurbhanj, and it's quite a central spot for the villages around here. We have a few buildings and a space where students hang out between their classes. The weather gets quite hot in the summer, so the fans are always going in the classrooms. It’s not a big city college with neon signs. It’s more basic. We have our staff who handle the admissions and the paperwork in the small office near the entrance. You’ll usually find someone drinking tea there in the morning. We have classes for different subjects. The students mostly come by bus or cycle from nearby areas. We see the same faces every day. There’s a lot of talk about exams and what comes next for everyone. We try to keep the place tidy, but with so many young people, there's always a bit of a mess to clear up at the end of the day. It’s just a regular junior college doing its part in the community. Nothing too complicated about it. We follow the local schedule and the seasonal holidays like everyone else in the district. It’s a steady place to be for those who want to stay close to home for their studies. We don't have much, but we have what's needed to learn.
