Tulunad Foods

Pumpwell is one of those places in Mangalore that is always moving, and that is right where we are. Tulunad Foods isn't a massive factory or anything like that. We are a more modest setup that focuses on the flavors people in this region grew up with. When you walk around the Pumpwell area, you see all the buses and the commuters, and we are just tucked in there among it all. Our workspace is usually a bit chaotic because there is always something being prepped or packed. We use a lot of local ingredients, and you can tell by the way the place smells—lots of coconut, chilies, and tamarind. We don't spend money on fancy marketing or glossy brochures. We think the food should just be what it is without all that extra noise. The staff here works hard, often starting early to get things ready for the day's deliveries. It can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of orders going out at once, but we manage to find our way around the crates and jars. We’ve been in Mangalore for a while, and we understand what people like to eat when they want something that feels real. It’s a bit of a grind sometimes, especially when the traffic outside is backed up, but we just keep doing our thing. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till night.
