Sri Rama Lunch Home

If you walk down Bhavanthi Street in the Hampankatta area of Mangalore, you will find us. This is the heart of the city, so there are always people shopping or heading to the banks nearby. We call it a lunch home because that is exactly what it is—a place to get a mid-day meal that isn't fancy. It’s a plain room with basic fans and some old wooden furniture. We don't spend money on advertising or making the place look like a cafe. Most of our customers are people who work in the local shops or students from the nearby colleges who are on a budget. The menu doesn't change much from day to day. We serve what people in Mangalore like to eat for lunch, and we make sure there is plenty of rice. The humidity here can be really heavy, so we keep the windows open, but that also lets in the noise from the street. It’s a busy, cramped little place during the peak hours between one and two in the afternoon. You might have to share a table with a stranger, but nobody really minds. We just want to give people a decent plate of food so they can go about their business. It’s been this way for a long time, and we don't see any reason to change it now. It’s just a simple lunch home in a busy part of town where you get what you pay for.
