Shade Caterers

I've been here at Shade Caterers on Mahalingeshwara Temple Road for a good while now. It’s right in Pandeshwar, just across from that Travellers Bunglow everyone knows. The kitchen gets really busy, especially when there are big functions in Mangalore. Sometimes the heat in the kitchen is a bit much, but we just get on with it. We handle a lot of food orders and big pots. Mostly, it’s about making sure the rice is right and the curries have enough salt. There’s a lot of cleaning up after, too. The traffic on this road can be a bit of a mess during temple festivals, which makes deliveries tricky, but we usually find a shortcut. We aren't a fancy big office or anything, just a group of people who know how to cook for a crowd. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but it’s what we do. My hands usually smell like spices even after I go home. The guys in the back are always joking around while they chop vegetables. It keeps the mood light when we have three weddings in one weekend. We don't really have a big website or a social media person, we just pick up the phone and write things down in a big ledger. It works for us. If you’re walking past the bungalow, you’ll probably see our vans parked out front loading up.
