Kamath Caterers

If you walk down Car Street in Mangalore, you will find us near the Gokarna Mutt. Kamath Caterers has been a part of this area for a long time. Car Street is a very traditional place with a lot of history and we feel connected to that. Every morning, the bells from the mutt remind us it is time to start the day. Our kitchen is always buzzing with activity. We handle a lot of different ingredients and the smell of roasted coconut is usually in the air. The space is a bit tight because we have so many large vessels and containers stored everywhere. It is a bit like a puzzle trying to move around when everyone is working at once. We do not have any corporate titles or anything like that. Everyone just pitches in where they are needed. Sometimes that means peeling mountains of potatoes or washing hundreds of plates. It is honest work and it keeps us busy. The area around Gokarna Mutt gets very crowded during festivals, which can make getting our supplies delivered a bit of a challenge. We have learned to work around the local schedule over the years. The walls of our shop are a bit worn and the paint is peeling in some spots, but it shows the years we have put in here. We are just local people trying to do a decent job for our neighbors on Car Street and we don't plan on changing.
