Our office is inside the Ambedkar Bhavan building on Kr Rao Road. If you are looking for the place, it’s right near the PVS building in the Kodialbail part of Mangalore. It’s a central spot, which makes it easy for people to find us when they are out doing their errands. The building is an older one, so it has that solid feel to it. We spend our days mostly talking to young people and some older folks who finally decided it’s time to learn how to drive a car. Mangalore roads have their own way about them, especially with the hills and the rain we get during the monsoon. We have to keep an eye on the vehicles constantly because the salt air and the wet weather can be tough on the engines. Inside the office, we have the usual stuff like ledger books, a few plastic chairs for people to wait, and some diagrams on the wall. It’s not a corporate environment; it’s more of a place where you sit down and have a chat about the rules of the road. We usually have the radio on in the background while we work on the applications. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy when there’s an event at the Bhavan, but we just keep going. It’s a steady life, meeting new people every week and helping them get their license sorted out. We just take things one day at a time here and try to keep the cars in good shape.
