M Raghunath Shet

My name is M Raghunath Shet and I run things from Laxmi Sadan in the Mannagudda neighborhood of Mangalore. This has been our home and our place of business for quite a few years now. Mannagudda is a nice part of town, mostly houses and small shops. We aren't a big corporation with multiple branches. It's just this one office in a regular house. When you come to see us, you’re walking onto our porch. We don't have a receptionist or a big waiting room with fancy chairs. We just have our desks and our records. It gets pretty humid here in Mangalore, so the fans are always spinning. We’ve seen the city change a lot over the years, with new apartments popping up everywhere, but Laxmi Sadan stays pretty much the same. We handle a variety of tasks, mostly involving local folks who know us. We don't do much in the way of advertising because word of mouth has always worked for us. People trust us because they know where to find us. It’s a very hands-on way of doing things. We don't have a lot of modern office gadgets, just what we need to get the paperwork done. It’s a quiet way to earn a living, and we like the independence of working from our own place in Mannagudda.
