Our office is tucked away inside the K P Shetty Compound in the town of Puttur. It is a local landmark that most people in this area can find easily enough without a map. We deal with travel and holiday plans, mostly helping local folks figure out where they want to go for their yearly breaks. It is not a huge operation by any means. Just a couple of rooms with some computers and some faded posters of different holiday spots. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or checking the latest travel schedules. Puttur is a nice place to stay, though it can get really warm during the summer months. We have many local families who come to us because they have known the Shetty compound for years. It feels more like a small community spot than a big travel company. We try to keep things as simple as possible for everyone who visits. There is always some tea being made in the small kitchen area in the back. Sometimes the internet connection is a bit slow in this part of town, so we just wait it out and talk to the customers while we wait for the screens to load. We have stacks of old brochures and registers piled up on the side tables. It is a bit messy at times, but we know where everything is kept. People come in to book tickets or just to ask about prices for the next season. We don't use fancy systems, just honest work and trying to get things right.
