You can find us at Bollekumer House. We are out in the Konaje village area of Mangalore. It’s a co-op, so it’s run a bit differently than a regular company. We focus on tourism and development around this part of Karnataka. The office is basically a house, which makes it feel very welcoming when you walk in. We sit around the table and talk about how to get more people to visit the local spots in our village. Konaje is a quiet place compared to the main city of Mangalore. We like it that way. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the backroads and the hidden spots that don't show up in the big guidebooks. We spend a lot of time talking to the local villagers and seeing how we can work together to improve things. It’s not a high-pressure environment here. We take our time with things to make sure they are done right. The D.K. district has so much to see, but people usually just stick to the main beaches. We want to show them the rest of the countryside. Our records are mostly kept in physical ledgers, though we use the computer for some things now when we have to. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour and we just sit on the porch and wait for it to come back. It’s a very grounded way of working. We are just a group of people trying to help our village grow in a sensible way.
