Udayam Salon

Udayam Salon is located right on Natham Road in Madurai. If you are coming from the Manjampatti or Chatrapatti Post area, you will see us easily enough. We have been in this same spot for quite a while now. Most of our mornings start with sweeping the front step and getting the towels ready for the day. The shop is not fancy or anything special, just a few chairs and some mirrors that have seen a lot of faces over the years. It gets pretty dusty outside because of all the traffic moving along Natham Road, so we are always wiping down the glass to keep things looking decent. People from the neighborhood often stop by, sometimes just to chat for a bit before they actually sit down for a haircut. We do not have a big team of people, just a couple of us who know how to handle a pair of scissors and a comb. We see a lot of kids coming in with their dads on the weekends, and it can get a bit loud then, but mostly it is just the sound of the radio or the ceiling fan spinning. It is a simple place to get a shave or a quick trim without any big fuss. We know most of our regulars by their names and what they usually like without them having to say much at all. Madurai is a busy city, but on this stretch of road, things feel a little more relaxed for us.
