Guru Hair Styler & Spa

Madurai is a hot city, and Alagar Koil Main Road is always busy with people going back and forth. Guru Hair Styler & Spa is located at old number 86A in K Pudhur. We are right opposite the Vijay Theatre. When a big movie comes out, the whole street is packed with people and the noise is incredible. You can hear the fans cheering from inside the shop. We’ve got "Spa" in the name, but we are a local place at heart. We have some nice chairs and we try to keep the place looking decent. The mirrors are big and stretch across the whole wall. We get a lot of younger guys who want to look like the actors in the movies across the street. They bring in pictures on their phones and we do our best to match it for them. The floor is dark stone and it stays a bit cooler than the pavement outside. We have a shelf with different gels and sprays. It’s a busy life here. Sometimes the theater crowd comes in just to get out of the sun for a bit. We don't mind. We just keep working. The scissors get a lot of use every day. We open up in the morning before the first show starts and stay open until the last one is almost over. It’s a good spot to be in. You see everything that happens in the neighborhood from our front door. It’s just a normal shop for regular people.
