Odiyan Salon

Odiyan Salon is located at 2/257, Thangamani Nagar in the Othakadai part of Madurai. We are right on Thirumogore Road. It is a small shop I started a few years back. It is nothing very special to look at from the outside, just a simple door and a glass window. Inside, I have two chairs and a large mirror that covers most of the back wall. I do all kinds of hair work for the local men. Some people want a total shave and some just want a little bit off the top. I try to keep the shop as clean as a busy place can be. There is always a broom leaning against the corner. Madurai is a very busy city and Othakadai is no different. There is a lot of noise and traffic on Thirumogore Road, so it can get a bit loud inside. I usually have some local music playing to cover the sound of the passing buses. Most of my customers come by after they finish work or on their one day off. I do not take any appointments; you just show up and wait for the chair to be empty. It is a simple system that works well for us. I have learned a lot about people just by listening to them while they sit in my chair. Some days are very long, but it is good to have a trade.
