Down in Othakadai, on the road to Thirumohur, you’ll find our little salon at A/818. We are quite close to Pitchai Devi Mahal, so we see a lot of people coming through when there’s a wedding or a big function happening at the hall. Those days are always our busiest, with people rushing in to get ready at the last minute. Madurai is always hot, so we keep the fans going at full speed all day long. The shop isn’t very big, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need into the space. The floor is made of simple stone, which stays a bit cooler in the summer heat. We’ve got some posters of different hair styles on the wall, though most people just ask for the same thing every time they come in. It’s a quiet enough area when there isn't a marriage going on nearby. We know the neighbors well, and often the shop across the street will send over some cold water if it’s a particularly burning afternoon. It’s just a normal, hardworking shop where we spend our days. We don’t have fancy signs or bright lights, just a small board outside and our regular tools inside. It’s been our workspace for years now and we like the routine of it. We just focus on giving people a decent cut so they can go about their day.
