Subha Salon

If you go down Poncholai Nagar 2nd Street in Kochadai, you will find Subha Salon. We are right across from the Shanthi Sadan Apartment. It’s a quiet street compared to the main parts of Madurai. I opened this shop because I wanted to work for myself and stay close to home. The neighbors are good people, and most of them come here for their haircuts. We have a couple of chairs and some basic tools. It’s not a place with air conditioning or bright neon lights. Just a fan and some good lighting so I can see what I’m doing with the scissors. Sometimes the kids from the apartment come over for their school haircuts. It gets a bit noisy then, but it's fine. I like the routine of it. Every morning I sweep the floor and get the towels ready. People talk about their families or their jobs while I work. I don't say much, I just listen and do the cutting. It’s a simple business. We don't have a big website or anything like that. Just the name on the door. If you live in Kochadai, you probably already know where we are. It’s a small shop, but it serves the street well. The weather in Madurai can be tough, but the shop stays cool enough under the shade of the building next door. We’re just here doing our thing every day.
