Sri Venkateshwara Salons

Sri Venkateshwara Salons is easy to find if you head to the Periyur Old Bus Stand backside. We are at 1-1/120 on Usilai Road in the Peraiyur area of Madurai. Our pin code is 625703. Being near the old bus stand means we get all sorts of people walking by. Some are travelers and some are locals who live nearby. I opened this shop because I wanted to work for myself. It is a humble place. We have the usual salon chairs and a small bench for people to wait on. Madurai gets very hot, so we have a couple of fans that stay on all day. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but they are fine for now. We mostly do hair cuts and shaves. Nothing too fancy or complicated. I like the rhythm of the work. You wash the hair, you cut it, you clean up. It is satisfying in a way. On festival days, it gets really crowded and we are working until late at night. I usually have a helper with me to keep things moving. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just know us because we have been here on Usilai Road for a while. It is an honest way to earn a living. We just try to be fair and do a decent job. The back of the old bus stand is a bit dusty but that is just part of being in this area.
