Rajeswari Salon

Rajeswari Salon is situated on Sivagangai Road in the Melur area. Being out here in Madurai, we are a bit away from the main city center but we are still on a road that stays pretty busy with traffic. I set this shop up because I noticed there weren’t many places to get a haircut right in this specific spot. It is a very basic setup. We have the usual chairs and a few mirrors fixed to the walls. We keep the ceiling fan running all day long because it gets quite hot in this part of the country. Most of our customers are locals who live right here in Melur or people who are just passing through on their way to Sivagangai. We do haircuts for men and young boys mostly. This is not the kind of place where you would find expensive hair products or fancy beauty treatments. We just use the stuff that has worked for years. I have been cutting hair since I was a young man, so it is the only thing I really know how to do well. The shop is painted a plain color and we keep the front door open to let whatever breeze there is come inside. Sometimes we have people sitting on the wooden bench outside if the chairs are full. We don’t have any website or online presence. People just see our sign and come in. It is a steady way to live.
