Madura Salon

You can find us at No 35/40 on Apk Main Road in Villapuram. We are right across from Vetri Theatre, which is a major landmark in this part of Madurai. Whenever a big new movie comes out, the whole street gets incredibly crowded, and we see thousands of people passing by our front door. Some folks come in for a quick trim just before they go to watch a film with their friends. The shop is a simple setup right on the main road. We have got the typical salon chairs and a small wooden shelf where we keep our razors, combs, and scissors. It gets quite noisy with all the traffic on Apk Main Road, but we are completely used to it by now. The mirrors show their age a little bit, but they work fine for what we need to do. We do not spend any money on fancy decorations or big advertisements. Most of our customers come because they live in Villapuram or they happened to see us while they were heading to the theatre. We handle all kinds of hair, from little kids who cannot sit still in the chair to older men who have wanted the same style for forty years. It is a practical place for a practical neighborhood. We just try to keep things moving and make sure everyone leaves looking a bit neater than when they first walked in.
