Maaiye Salon

We are located in the Jayaram Complex on Thirumangalam Road. It is quite easy to find since we are in the Checkanurani area of Madurai. Most people know the landmark near the Railway Gate and the Bakiyalakshmi Kalyana Mahal. We have been working here for quite some time now. The shop isn't huge, but it fits what we need for our day-to-day work. We spend most of our mornings cleaning the mirrors and getting the chairs ready before the first person walks in. It gets pretty hot in Madurai during the afternoons, so we keep the fans going all day. There is usually a bit of a wait on Sundays because that is when everyone in the neighborhood has a day off. We don't really do anything fancy here. It is just a place to get your hair cut and maybe have a quick chat about what is happening in the town. Sometimes the noise from the railway gate can be a bit loud, but we are used to it by now. We keep our tools sharp and the floor swept after every customer. The complex gets busy during the wedding season because of the hall nearby. We see a lot of different faces every day. Some people have been coming to us since they were kids. We just try to do the work properly and keep things simple for everyone who walks through our door at the complex.
