Ksr Salon

We are located over on Thirumokoor Road in Othakadai. Ksr Salon is very close to the bus stand, so we get a lot of people who are just passing through Madurai or waiting for their ride home. It’s a small space, and the walls have a few posters of movie stars that have started to curl at the edges. We’ve been here long enough that we don't really need a big sign, everyone knows where the door is. The floor is a bit uneven in the corner, but the chairs stay level. We keep a bucket of water handy because sometimes the tap acts up in this building. It’s not a fancy place where you get coffee or anything. You just come in, sit down, and get your hair clipped. We talk about the rain or the price of vegetables while we work. The mirrors are old and have a few spots on them that won't come off, but you can see yourself well enough. On festival days, it gets really packed and people have to wait outside on the bench. We try to move fast but we don't like to rush a good shave. The smell of the alum block and the talcum powder is pretty much stuck in the walls by now. It feels like home to us, and we hope the customers feel okay sitting there too. It's been like this for years now.
