K.O.N.P. School

Down here on S Veli Street, things are always moving and making noise. Madurai is a busy city, especially near the South Gate and Periyar areas where there is always traffic. Our school is right in the middle of all that commotion. You can hear the horns and the street noise throughout the day, but we have all gotten used to it over the years. The building at number 188 is older, with high ceilings and heavy doors that have been there for a long time. We have to do a lot of cleaning because of the dust that blows in from the busy street outside. We do not have a huge campus with sprawling fields, so every bit of space we have is used for something important. The kids play in the small courtyard during their morning break. We have a small office where we keep all the student records in big paper ledgers. It is a bit old-fashioned compared to some places, but it works for us. The teachers here are mostly from the local neighborhood and have been walking to work for years. We have a lot of history in this part of Madurai Main. Families have been sending their children to us for generations. We do not have fancy computer labs with gadgets, just the standard stuff needed for the daily lessons. We try to keep the kids focused on their books despite the distractions outside.
