K.M. B.Ed. College

K.M. B.Ed. College is tucked away in the Kallamanaickanpatti area of Madurai. We have been here for a bit now, focusing on training people who want to become teachers. Madurai is a big city, but our corner feels a bit more like a community. Most of our students come from around the city or travel in from the smaller villages nearby. They arrive pretty early in the morning, often looking a bit tired from the bus ride. We have a few lecture halls and a library that stays quite busy during exam season. It is not a huge campus, so everyone pretty much knows everyone else. The staff here consists of people who have been in education for years. We spend a lot of time going over lesson plans and talking about how to manage a classroom. It’s practical stuff. We don't have any shiny new buildings, but the ones we have work fine for what we need. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just open the windows for light and keep going with the lesson. Our office is usually piled high with files and registration forms. We try to help the students find jobs once they finish their degree. It’s a good feeling when one of them comes back to tell us they started at a local school. It’s just a normal college where people work hard to get their certificates and move on to their careers. There is no drama, just daily learning and teaching.
