Cruz Salon

We opened up here in S S Colony some years back. The shop is at No 6 on Subramaniya Pillai Street. It’s pretty easy to find if you know where Tamras Marriage Hall is, we are just near that. People usually come in when there is a wedding at the hall or just for their regular monthly trim. We have a few chairs and mirrors that have been here since the start. Madurai gets really hot, so the fan is always running full speed. Most of the guys from around the neighborhood drop by on Sunday mornings. It gets quite crowded then. You might have to wait on the bench outside for a bit. We don't have fancy lights or anything like that. Just the basic tools and some old magazines to read. My brother and I handle most of the work ourselves. We talk about the local news or whatever is playing on the small TV in the corner. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just keep going with the doors open. It’s a simple place. We know most of the customers by name because they've been coming here for a long time. It isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but we keep the floor swept and the scissors sharp. If you’re walking down the street, you’ll see our sign. It’s a quiet spot most weekdays. We just do our work and go home to our families.
