Padma Travels & Tours

Padma Travels & Tours is just a small office inside the Padma Hotel on Fort Road. You probably know where that is if you’ve walked around Leh for five minutes. We spend most of our mornings drinking butter tea and looking at the mountains before the guests start coming in with their questions about permits or taxis. Living in Ladakh is something else, especially when the winter starts hitting and things get quiet, but for now, we are right here in the middle of it all. My family has lived here for a long time, so we know these roads pretty well. Sometimes the phone lines don't work right, or the internet goes out because of the wind, but that is just how it is in the mountains. We don't have a big fancy team or anything like that. It is just a few of us trying to help people see the monasteries and the lakes without getting lost. If you walk past the hotel, you can usually see us sitting near the entrance. We try to keep things simple because life here is complicated enough with the altitude and the weather. We don't do much advertising because most people just find us by walking in. The office is small and usually has a few maps pinned to the wall that are a bit faded from the sun. That is basically who we are. Nothing too special, just locals doing our job on Fort Road.
