Mystic Mountains

We are located at Hotel Skittsal in the Stok area. Stok is a bit outside the main Leh town, so it feels a lot quieter over here. Being at the hotel means we see a lot of the mountain peaks right from our doorstep. We call ourselves Mystic Mountains, but mostly we are just people who like being out in the open air. We spend our days helping people who stay here or wander by to find their way up the trails. It is a different pace of life in this part of Ladakh 194101. We don't have the noise of the main market. Instead, we have the wind and the view of the valley. We help with treks and local sightseeing, mostly just by sharing what we know about the land. We’ve lived in these parts forever, so we know where the water is and which paths are getting worn down. We keep things simple and don't try to sell people on things they don't need. If the weather is bad, we tell you to stay put and drink some tea. It is honest work and we enjoy being in Stok. Sometimes we are busy with the hotel guests and other times it is just us planning for the next season. It’s a good way to live, even if the winters get very long and the snow piles up. We just keep the fire going and wait for spring.
