Vidya College

Vidya College is located in the Saina Bldg, West Hill, Kozhikode - 673005. If you know this part of Kozhikode, you know how much it rains. Our building has seen a lot of those rainy seasons over the years. It’s a busy place. Students are always rushing up the stairs because the lift is either slow or stuck on another floor. We have different classes going on from morning until evening. The desks are a bit scratched up from years of students sitting there, and the hallways can get quite narrow when everyone leaves at the same time. Teachers are usually in the small staff room drinking tea and marking papers between their sessions. It’s not one of those massive campuses with big fields; it’s more of a practical city college. Most of the kids come from nearby areas, taking the bus or walking from the station. We spend a lot of time organizing the daily schedules and making sure the library books actually get returned, which is harder than you’d think. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to open the windows wide and keep talking. There is always a lot of chatter about upcoming exams and what people are going to do after they finish their courses. It feels like a small community inside this one building. We try to keep things organized, but there is always something needing a minor repair. It’s just a plain, working school for local people.
