Government Higher Secondary School

Government Higher Secondary School is located at 96 Kunnamangalam, right along the National Highway. Being a government school means we serve a lot of different people from the surrounding areas. The building is an old one, built with thick walls that stay relatively cool even when the sun is beating down on the highway outside. We have a lot of students who come here because it is the most practical option for their families. The rooms are filled with wooden benches that have seen many years of use. We have a large open area where everyone gathers for the morning assembly before the heat of the day really kicks in. The teachers here have a lot on their plates, dealing with large classes and all the paperwork that comes with a state-run institution. We don't have the latest gadgets or new paint on every wall, but the books are there and the lessons get taught. You can hear the sound of the traffic passing by all day long, which is just part of the atmosphere here. We focus on the core subjects and try to help the older students get ready for their final exams so they can find work or go on to more study. It is a no-frills kind of place where the goal is just to provide a basic education to anyone who walks through the gate. We take pride in just showing up and doing the work.
