Jain Battery

Jain Battery is located at Aerodrome Circle Main Road 6. Being near the circle means there is never a quiet moment. There are always horns honking and people rushing by. Our shop is a simple room filled with rows of batteries. They are stacked on sturdy wooden shelves that we built ourselves a few years back. Working here means getting your hands dirty and doing a lot of lifting. Most of our day is spent talking to drivers who are having trouble with their vehicles. We check the terminals and see if the battery just needs a good charge. It’s practical work that keeps us busy from morning until late. We have a small fan that blows air around, but it still gets quite warm in the summer months. The shop doesn't have any big corporate look to it. It’s just a place where we do our jobs and try to be helpful. Sometimes we sit outside on a couple of plastic stools when there aren't any customers around. We watch the traffic go around the circle and talk about things happening in the city. It’s a good spot to be in because everyone passes through here at some point. We keep the doors wide open to let the air in, even though it brings in some noise and smoke from the road. It’s just the way it is at Aerodrome Circle. We close when the traffic finally starts to thin out.
