V Leathers

If you come down to Jadavpur, you will find us at 5/4, Bijoygarh. V Leathers is a small place. We work with leather, which means the smell in the shop is very strong, but we have grown to like it over the years. We do not have a big showroom for people to walk around in. It is more of a workshop and a storage space. We spend our time checking the quality of the hides and making sure they are stored right so they do not get ruined by the damp. Jadavpur is a lively neighborhood, and we like being part of the community. The guys working here have been friends for a long time. We do not have formal meetings or anything like that. We just talk while we work with our hands. Sometimes the lights flicker when the weather is bad, but we just keep going. We are not looking to be the biggest company in the city. We just want to do our work at 5/4, Bijoygarh and then go home to our families. We use simple tools and we do not have a lot of high-tech machines. Most of it is just hands-on stuff. We pack everything ourselves into boxes. It is a bit dusty and the floor is usually covered in scraps of leather, but that is just how a real workshop looks. We do not try to polish it up.
