S. K. Furniture

S. K. Furniture is located at 97/3 Topsia Road, which is right behind the Lal Masjid. It’s a good spot because the mosque is a huge landmark that everyone knows. We spend our days surrounded by wood, sawdust, and the smell of polish. Our workshop is where we put together different pieces like chairs, tables, and cabinets for people’s homes. It’s not a quiet place because there is always some sanding or hammering going on. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights and carpets. It’s a real workshop where the floor is usually covered in shavings and the tools are always out on the benches. We like working with our hands and seeing something take shape from a few pieces of timber. People come by to look at what we’ve made or to ask if we can fix something that broke. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just make furniture that is meant to be used every day. Topsia Road is always busy, but once you step into the back of the shop, it’s all about the work. We take our time to make sure things are sturdy, but we don't claim to be perfect. We just do the best we can with the materials we have. It’s a dusty job, but it feels good at the end of the day when you've finished a solid piece of work for someone.
