Our place, Sauhard Leather Pvt. Ltd., is right near the Shiv Mandir at No. 35. You can usually hear the temple bells from our front door when things are quiet, which isn’t often in this neighborhood. Working with leather is a messy business, to be honest. There is always that specific smell of tanned hides and glue hanging in the air. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we cut and stitch. The floors are often covered in small scraps of brown and black leather that we have to sweep up constantly. We spend a lot of time sitting at the benches working. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out or use whatever light comes through the window to keep going. It’s a small team here. We know the neighbors well since we’ve been at this spot for years. People stop by to ask for small repairs or just to see what we are making that week. It’s not always easy work, and the machines can be quite loud when everyone is working at once. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most of the stuff is packed into boxes as soon as it’s finished and inspected. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks. If you walk past the temple, you’ll probably see us unloading a shipment or just taking a quick break outside the gate. It’s just how we run things.
