We run Fancy Leather Craft Pvt. Ltd. from our locations at 14 Tiljala Road and also have a presence over at 20 Park Street in Kolkata. Dealing with leather is a messy business, to be honest. There is always the smell of hides and the dust from cutting and sanding. Our workshop on Tiljala Road is where most of the heavy lifting happens. It is not a clean, white-collar office; it is a place where people have stained hands and work with heavy needles and sharp knives. We have been doing this in Kolkata for a long time. The city has a long history with leather, and we are just continuing that tradition in our own small way. Over at the Park Street address, things are a bit more organized for visitors, but the heart of what we do is in the crafting. We make all sorts of leather goods, mostly focusing on the practical stuff that people use every day. Sometimes we run out of a certain color of dye or a specific grade of leather, and we have to scramble to find more. It’s a lot of manual labor and sitting at workbenches for long hours. We aren't a big international brand, just a local outfit that knows how to handle a piece of leather. We take the work as it comes and try to stay busy throughout the year. It’s what we’ve always done.
