The Central Modern School

If you head down Ghola Kachary Road towards Barasat, you will find us at 4/1. We are right near the Kazipara post office area. It’s a very busy part of the district. There are always rickshaws and people moving around outside our gates. The school building is a few stories high, and we use every bit of space we have. A sprawling campus with big fields isn't what we have here, but there is a small yard where the kids stand for morning prayers. The area is quite crowded, so it gets noisy with the sounds of the town coming in through the windows. Rooms are filled with desks and benches where the students spend their day. Walls are covered with charts that the teachers made by hand. We don’t have air conditioning, so we rely on the big ceiling fans to keep the air moving. It can get quite humid in the summer. Most people in Barasat know where we are because we’ve been here for a good number of years. Basic subjects and making sure the students are prepared for their exams are what we focus on. There’s no big secret to how we work. We just show up, do the teaching, and go home. It’s a local school for local people, and we like it that way. The tea stalls nearby are always busy with parents waiting to pick up their children. That's our daily scene.
