Katlamari Pt. 4 Sarkar Para L. P. School

We are up on the second floor at 14A and 14B Mahendra Bose Lane. It’s one of those narrow lanes in Kolkata where things are always a bit tight. Being on the second floor means we are away from the street dust, which is nice, even if the stairs are a bit steep for some of us. This is a small lower primary school. We have a couple of rooms where we fit all the students. It gets a bit cramped when everyone is here, but we manage to make it work. The furniture is quite old, mostly wooden benches that have seen many years of use. We don't go in for any of that modern marketing stuff. We just teach the kids what they need to know for their exams. You’ll often hear the sound of children reciting their lessons if you walk past the building. During the rainy season, the lane outside sometimes gets a bit muddy, but the kids don't seem to mind. We spend our time checking notebooks and talking to the parents who stop by after work. There isn't a lot of extra space for things like a library or a gym. We just have the classrooms and the basic supplies. It’s a very simple setup. We’ve been here a long time and the neighborhood knows us well. It’s just a place where children come to learn their ABCs and numbers before moving on.
