Tarafdar Stores

Our shop, Tarafdar Stores, is located in the Atghara area near Chinar Park. Being on Rajarhat Road means we deal with a lot of traffic and noise every single day. The store has been part of this Kolkata neighborhood for a while now. We aren't a big chain, just a local spot run by our family. We sell the usual things that people run out of at home, like tea, sugar, and various snacks. The shop is a bit cramped because we try to fit as much as we can onto the shelves. Sometimes you have to sidestep a bag of potatoes just to get to the counter. It gets quite warm in here during the afternoon, and the light isn't always the brightest, but we know where everything is kept. We spend a lot of time chatting with the regulars who come in for their daily supplies. They tell us about their families or the local news while we pack their bags. We don't use any fancy computer systems; we just do things the old-fashioned way. It's a lot of manual work, carrying heavy crates and keeping track of what’s selling. The floor is made of old tiles that have seen better days, but they hold up well enough. We’re just here to provide a service to the people in the Atghara blocks and we don't think much beyond that.
