Vishnu Sugar Mills Limited

Vishnu Sugar Mills Limited is situated in Gillander House. We use the rooms at C- 3/3 and D-4/3. The building is at 8, Netaji Subhas Road. This is basically the heart of the old business district in Kolkata. Gillander House is a massive, old building with these really thick walls and high ceilings. It feels very different from those modern offices made of glass and steel. There’s a lot of history in the hallways here. Our office is a bit of a maze of desks and old wooden cupboards. We handle a lot of the administrative side of the sugar mills from these specific rooms. It can get quite hot in the afternoons, and the old fans are always humming away over our heads. You can hear the trams and the heavy traffic from Netaji Subhas Road right outside the windows. It’s a very busy area with people selling tea and snacks on the pavement right outside the main gate. Working here feels like being part of the old city. We don't have a modern lobby area. You just come in through the main entrance of Gillander House and find your way to our section. There are stacks of registers and papers everywhere because that’s just the nature of our business. It’s a bit dusty and the floors are worn down from years of use. But it’s a solid place to be. We just focus on our daily tasks without much fuss.
