Spencers Retail Limited

If you know Behala, you know the traffic on Pashupati Bhattacharya Road. We are located at number 29. It’s a spot that stays busy because people are always needing something for their homes. Spencers Retail Limited has been here for a while now. We spend the morning unloading crates and making sure things are where they belong. The floor is concrete and it’s seen a lot of boots walking over it. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls, just the shelves and the products. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we walk or take a cycle to get to work. It gets hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the building, but we have some fans that help a bit. We don't talk much about strategies or anything like that. We just talk about what needs to be stocked and if the inventory is correct. Sometimes the P.S. Behala police van rolls by and we give a nod. It’s a local neighborhood thing. We see the same faces every week coming in for their groceries. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is steady. We handle the paperwork in a small back room that is cramped but functional. It’s just a regular store in a regular part of Kolkata.
